The lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency, Rep. Wale Raji, has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal accident that occurred earlier today along the Ibeju axis of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, involving an 18-seater passenger bus and a truck.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the tragic crash resulted in multiple fatalities, leaving families and communities in mourning. Rep. Raji described the incident as heartbreaking and called for urgent attention to road safety.
“I received with deep shock and sadness the tragic news of the fatal accident that occurred earlier today along the Ibeju axis of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, involving an 18-seater passenger bus and a truck,” he said.
“The heartbreaking incident has claimed several precious lives, leaving families and our entire constituency in mourning.”
The lawmaker extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for speedy recovery of those injured.
“On behalf of the good people of Epe Federal Constituency and my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate accident.
May Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort the grieving families in this moment of irreparable loss. Our prayers also go to those who sustained injuries, with hopes for their speedy recovery.”
Rep. Raji further stressed the need for safe driving practices and stricter enforcement of road safety rules to avoid preventable accidents.
“This tragic occurrence is yet another sober reminder of the need for caution and discipline on our roads.
I appeal to all drivers, particularly those who ply the Lekki-Epe Expressway, to imbibe the culture of safe driving by adhering strictly to speed limits, avoiding reckless overtaking, and ensuring their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey.”
He also urged relevant authorities and transport unions to intensify public enlightenment campaigns on safety.
