A five-man armed gang, suspected of being kidnappers, abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for Patigi Local Government Area in Kwara State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the attack took place on Sunday night in the Sakpefu area of the local government. The victims were identified as Hajiya Fatima and Amina.

According to a member of the APC state executive council who chose to remain anonymous, the attackers scaled the fence of the chairman’s compound, firing shots into the air to intimidate residents. They then entered a room where they found the wife and daughter and took them away at gunpoint.

The source spoke with the chairman, who confirmed he was “just lucky” to have avoided being kidnapped himself.
Another party member stated that the gunmen operated for several minutes before taking their victims to an unknown location.
Residents of Patigi and other areas in Kwara North have recently faced an increasing number of kidnappings, prompting calls for more action from the government and security forces.
The Kwara State Police Commissioner Mr. Adekimi Ojo said he was not aware of the incident, stating, “I’m yet to be informed.”
