Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare. According to her, retaining talented educators requires deliberate efforts to improve their quality of life.
“With the upward review of car refurbishment loan from N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) to N500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) for the senior level management officers and N30,000 to N100,000 for Junior level Officers by the Governor, a greater percentage of staff can now benefit from the scheme,” she said.

She further disclosed that the upward review of housing loans, as recommended by the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) to Mr. Governor, is ongoing and currently receiving attention.
She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the loans and ensure positive impacts on students’ learning outcomes across the state.
Also speaking, the Director, Teachers Welfare Department, Mr. Akinwande Festus, emphasized the importance of welfare incentives in boosting morale.
“Adequate welfare packages enhance teachers’ contentment with their jobs, leading to higher motivation and morale,” he said.
He explained that the loans will not only improve staff living standards but also encourage skilled educators to remain in the system.
The Teachers Loan Board is responsible for considering loan applications for car refurbishment and housing from staff across all Education Districts, the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). Approved funds are subsequently disbursed by the State Treasury Office, Alausa.
