In a move aimed at improving access to education and promoting literacy among pupils, the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has established four standard libraries across schools in the council.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the initiative, implemented in partnership with Yeshua’s Arm, is described as a major boost to the educational development of the community.
- The beneficiary schools include:
- RCM Primary School, Okunraye
- RCM Primary School, Lekki
- St. Davis Anglican Primary School, Oshoroko
- Oriyanrin LG Primary School
According to the Council, the libraries have been equipped with books, learning materials, and conducive spaces for study, providing young learners with opportunities to expand their knowledge and improve their academic performance.
Speaking on the development, Engr. Kasali said: “Education remains the foundation of growth and progress in any society.
By giving our children access to books and a proper reading environment, we are not only investing in their future but also strengthening the intellectual capacity of Lekki.”
A representative of Yeshua’s Arm commended the partnership, noting that their collaboration with Lekki LCDA has consistently yielded positive results for the community.
“Our vision is to empower children through knowledge, and this project reflects that commitment. These libraries will help cultivate a reading culture that will last a lifetime,” he said.
Parents and teachers also expressed gratitude. Mrs. Ajoke Adebayo, a parent at Oriyanrin LG Primary School, remarked:
“This is the first time our children are having a proper library. It will motivate them to read more, and we truly appreciate this effort.”
A teacher at St. Davis Anglican Primary School, Oshoroko, added: “The children are already excited. Having access to textbooks and storybooks in one place will improve their comprehension and love for learning.”
The Kasali-led administration reiterated its dedication to prioritizing education, promising more interventions in schools across Lekki LCDA.
