- Stakeholders at the forum demanded better electricity, a new General Hospital, and completion of Lekki–Epe Expressway bridges.
- Hon. Abiodun Tobun urged LASG to intervene in abandoned power project.
- Epe Division leaders praised LASG for inclusive budgeting.
Epe Division witnessed a massive turnout of Royal Fathers, Political Leaders, and key stakeholders on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Y2026 Budget Consultative Forum held at Jubilee Chalet, Epe, and organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MBEP).
Eko Hot Blog reports that at the forum, participants seized the opportunity to present pressing demands to the Lagos State Government, calling for improved electricity supply, an additional General Hospital, and the completion of the bridge components of the Lekki–Epe Expressway, among other infrastructural projects.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Epe Division, the Lawmaker representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Abiodun Mustain Tobun, who is also the Balogun of Epe Land, commended the State Government for institutionalising the consultative process.
“Providing Lagosians the opportunity to make contributions to the yearly budget ensures that their needs are prioritised in line with the realities on ground,” he said.
Hon. Tobun, however, identified poor electricity supply as the major challenge confronting Epe Division. He appealed to the State Government to intervene in the completion of a 32/33 KVA line from Omotosho, which was abandoned at about 60 percent completion.
“Though the project belongs to the Federal Government, the intervention of Lagos State at this moment will be highly appreciated by the people of Epe, who remain the major beneficiaries of this long-expected project,” he added.
On healthcare, Tobun stressed the urgent need for another General Hospital in Epe Central, noting that land had already been provided for the project.
He explained that since the former General Hospital has been upgraded to a Federal Medical Centre, a new hospital would cater to the growing population.
He suggested that available land at L.A. and Ansar’udeen Primary Schools could conveniently accommodate the facility.
The lawmaker also commended the dualisation of the Lekki–Epe Expressway but urged the State Government to ensure the completion of its bridge components.
“We appreciate the dualisation of the Lekki–Epe Expressway, but we want the bridge components of the road to be constructed so that the project can fully serve the purpose for which it was initiated,” Tobun stated.
The forum was attended by Royal Fathers, traditional chiefs, community leaders, representatives of youth organisations, civil society, and other stakeholders who collectively pressed for accelerated development across Epe Division.
