The OEQA Coordinating Director, Remi Abdul, led the monitoring team to several schools, including Dolphin Senior High School, Lagos Island, where the team was received by the Principal and Director, Comfort Agunlejika.
Abdul explained that the inspections were to ensure adherence to the approved resumption date in the state’s harmonised 2025/2026 academic calendar. Basic and secondary schools in Lagos resumed on September 15 for the first term.
The approved calendar shows that the first half of the term runs from September 15 to October 31, lasting 34 days, while the second half is scheduled from November 10 to December 19, also spanning 34 days, with an Open Day and Mid-Term Break in between.

During the visits, the monitoring team checked whether school administrators had held pre-resumption meetings and put essential teaching and statutory records including lesson notes, diaries, and attendance registers in place for the smooth take-off of the term.
Addressing Senior Secondary School 3 students, Abdul urged them to take their academics seriously and begin early preparation for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). He also encouraged teachers to remain dedicated to delivering quality education.
