President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to the late Chief (Mrs) HID Awolowo, describing her as a pillar of courage and dignity who not only stood beside her husband, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, but also carried his legacy with uncommon strength.
According to Eko Hot Blog, President Tinubu said Mama Awolowo’s memory remains fresh in the hearts of Nigerians, even a decade after her passing.
He lauded her life of service and sacrifice, noting that it continues to inspire unity, discipline, and the pursuit of national progress.
“Ten years may have passed, but the memory of Mama HID Awolowo, the matriarch of the Awolowo family, remains fresh with deep respect in the heart of our nation.
Mama Awolowo was more than a wife and mother; she was a guiding light for generations of Nigerians who drew inspiration from her courage, faith, and love for country,” Tinubu said.
The president recalled how she stood firmly by Chief Obafemi Awolowo during both trials and triumphs, stressing that her grace and resilience made her a mother figure beyond her immediate family.
He added that her enduring example shows what it means to live a life dedicated to faith, discipline, and the service of humanity.

“As we remember her today, we celebrate a life of service and sacrifice that continues to inspire us as we work together to build a just, united, and prosperous Nigeria. May your legacy continue to live on, Mama Awolowo,” he wrote.
