Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has asserted that the North is experiencing unprecedented infrastructural development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Ata made the remarks on Saturday during the unveiling of a scholarship programme for 1,000 undergraduates in Kano, an initiative funded by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.

He dismissed claims that Tinubu’s government is neglecting the region, insisting that Northern states have benefited significantly from federal appointments and projects.
The minister highlighted several housing initiatives, including the Renewed Home Estate Programme, which earmarks the construction of 250 houses in each state. He revealed that beyond the original allocation, the President approved an additional 500 housing units for Kano State, as well as new projects in Katsina and Sokoto.
“Tinubu has brought so many projects to Kano State. With the additional 500 housing units, this administration is addressing the housing deficit in the region,” Ata said.

He further credited Tinubu’s support for Senator Jibrin with accelerating social, economic, and human capital development in Kano, describing opposition claims of neglect as “propaganda.”
Speaking through Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Jibrin said the scholarship initiative was part of his investment in human capital development to secure the future of young people. Beneficiaries also received N20 million in transportation support.
Bayero University Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, urged politicians to prioritize collaboration over personal interests, warning that failure to tackle the education crisis could worsen security challenges linked to out-of-school youth.
