The Plateau State Government has announced a partial relaxation of the 48-hour curfew earlier imposed on Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area following Sunday’s deadly attack in the community.
Under the directive of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the curfew will now run from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily, allowing residents to move freely between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., effective from April 1, 2026.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the government said residents are permitted to carry out their normal and lawful activities during the relaxed hours, while security agencies continue to monitor the area to maintain order and prevent furtherncidents.
Authorities urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as efforts continue to restore lasting peace in the affected community.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government commended residents for their cooperation during the enforcement of the curfew.
“The Plateau State Government appreciates the cooperation and resilience of the public during this period and reiterates its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state,” the statement read.
Tension had escalated in Angwan Rukuba after suspected gunmen, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, stormed the community on Sunday evening and opened fire on residents, killing several people.
An eyewitness, Nyam Isaac, said the attackers arrived at about 8 p.m. and shot indiscriminately in what he described as a busy market environment.

The state government imposed the curfew shortly after the incident in a bid to restore order and prevent further violence.
