Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has warned that any appointee caught engaging in bribery or corruption under his administration will be dismissed immediately.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during a church service at Abayi District of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Aba Conference, Governor Otti reaffirmed his zero-tolerance stance on corruption. He said his participation in politics was driven by a desire to restore the dignity of Abia State, guided by the values of honesty traditionally associated with the Igbo people.
The governor’s warning comes barely two weeks after six officials of the Ministry of Justice were dismissed for allegedly inflating their salaries. He stressed that his government would not entertain excuses or interventions for anyone caught in corrupt acts.
“If anybody tells you to bring money for anything, tell him it is a lie. He is a dupe because he will collect the money and still not do anything for you.
“That is why you will never see bribery and corruption in this government. If you get involved, I will fire you. We are intolerant of corruption and nobody can plead for you,” Otti declared.
Governor Otti further highlighted the recent recruitment of 5,394 teachers in the state, stressing that the exercise was strictly on merit. According to him, none of the newly employed workers paid money to secure their positions, a process he described as transparent and fair.
Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to accountability and good governance, assuring residents that corrupt practices will not be tolerated under his watch.
