The Lagos State Government has demolished a cluster of illegal shanties and a makeshift car wash in the Lekki area as part of its ongoing environmental enforcement campaign.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the exercise in a statement posted on his official X handle on Tuesday.

According to him, the enforcement team dismantled unlawful structures at Lafiaji Beach and along Platinum Way in the Igbokusu axis of Lekki.
“These shanties not only degrade the environment but also encourage indiscriminate waste disposal and other unhygienic practices along our coastal corridors,” Wahab said.

He stressed that the state government would not tolerate activities that undermine environmental sustainability and public health.
“As a government, we cannot allow these practices to persist unchecked. We remain committed to restoring order, safeguarding our waterfronts, and ensuring that public spaces are managed responsibly in line with environmental regulations,” the commissioner added.
