Veteran musician and Queen of Waka music, Salawa Abeni, has publicly addressed and refuted persistent rumours of her death, assuring her family, friends, and fans that she is “alive, hale, and hearty.”

“Please disregard all the rumours,” she wrote in a caption accompanying the video. “Some blogs will do the unthinkable just to trend. It is rather shameful. The Queen is fine and doing very well. May God bless you all.”
Abeni did not mince words, directly criticizing platforms for spreading falsehoods simply to gain clicks, stressing that it was a shameful practice to lie about her demise for traffic.
Singing in the video, the Queen of Waka further asserted that anyone wishing her dead would exit the world before her, maintaining a resolute and vibrant presence.

Salawa Abeni began her music career in the 1970s and made history as the first Yoruba female artist to sell over a million copies of an album with her debut, Late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.
Her response follows a recent trend where Nigerian celebrities, including actor Chiwetalu Agu, have been forced to release video statements to confirm they are “alive and well” after becoming targets of online death hoaxes.
