The Lagos State University Muslim Alumni (LASUMA) has awarded ₦7 million in scholarships to 60 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Lagos State University (LASU), reaffirming its commitment to supporting education and easing the financial burden on students.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the 2025 LASUMA Scholarship Award, earlier announced during the association’s Annual General Meeting and Awards Ceremony in Surulere, attracted notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who served as keynote speaker, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

eaking at the event, LASUMA President, Dr. AbdulAzeez Anjorin, described the initiative as a personal milestone and a “dream fulfilled,” noting that his own academic journey was shaped by scholarships received both locally and internationally. He expressed deep appreciation to Allah and acknowledged the generous contributions of prominent LASUMA members who largely funded the 2025 scholarship programme.
The beneficiaries were selected from over 500 applicants and cut across diverse fields such as Arts, Education, Law, Medicine, Science, and Social Sciences, spanning Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate levels.
According to LASUMA, the scholarship scheme is part of its broader mission to promote academic excellence, empower students, and give back to the institution that shaped many of its members.
