EKO HOT BLOG reports that the 52-year-old actress recently stated she doesn’t consider her single status a setback, stressing that people should build marriage on genuine connection rather than societal expectations.
“For me, not finding the person I truly want to spend the rest of my life with is not a negative,” she explained. “I’ve been proposed to many times, and I’ve said no.”
Akintola cautioned against succumbing to pressure from family, peers, or society to marry hastily, pointing to Nigeria’s rising divorce rates as evidence of rushed unions.
She noted that many marriages collapse shortly after wedding ceremonies because they were not built on the right foundation.
“Did you just marry because people say marry? Look at divorce ratings now in Nigeria; it’s skyrocketing. Some people are married before they leave the reception if the marriage has broken up,” she added.
Beyond marriage, Akintola highlighted the need to instill values of accountability and responsibility in both sons and daughters. She argued that young men should be held to the same standards as young women when it comes to choices and consequences.
“Teach your sons that their body is the temple of God the same way you teach your daughters. As soon as you impregnate a girl, no more school for you, my dear. Go and work and raise your child,” she advised.
The actress also encouraged women to prioritize relationships with hardworking, responsible men rather than focusing solely on material wealth, saying that true partnership is defined by character and commitment.
