She highlighted the impact of the diaspora on the economy, noting that remittances average over 20 billion dollars annually. “In just one month of reforms, Nigeria attracted 600 million dollars in new business investments.
These inflows show that our country is ready for progress and the diaspora must not be left behind,” she said to applause.
Dabiri-Erewa outlined new initiatives tailored for Nigerians abroad, including the diaspora housing scheme and mortgage platform that guarantee safe investments without third-party risks, the diaspora bridge programme in education and health led by Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the roll-out of contactless passports and non-resident BVN to ease identification and documentation.

She explained that these steps were designed to unify the diaspora and ensure their contributions to national growth are seamless and secure.
She further underscored Lagos’ transformation into Africa’s true gateway, citing infrastructure such as the blue and red line rail projects, the Lekki Deep Sea Port, and continuous investment-friendly policies under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. “This is the time to invest in Lagos, to connect with Lagos, and to be part of its rising story,” she added.
The NiDCOM boss also commended Eko Club International for sustaining Lagos traditions for 25 years and embracing inclusivity by giving women and youth space in its leadership.
She urged members to continue being good ambassadors of Nigeria, stressing that unity remains a critical tool for progress.
“Most importantly, we must all ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu succeeds as our President and as a Lagosian. The platform is there, the structure is there, and nothing will hold us back but ourselves,” Dabiri-Erewa said in her closing remarks, which drew a standing ovation.
