A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), has inaugurated more than 2,000 ward executives in Ondo State to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the inauguration coincided with the commissioning of AMG’s new secretariat in Akure, the state capital. Each of the 203 wards in Ondo contributed 10 executives, making a total of 2,030 officers.

Speaking at the event, AMG’s Director General, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said similar structures were already emerging in Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos States, with plans to expand across the country.
He said the group’s commitment to Tinubu was rooted in the president’s decisive action on fuel subsidy removal.
“Asiwaju took the bold step to remove the evil called oil subsidy on his first day in office,” Asagunla said. “Initially, things went awry garri was sold for about N1,200 per congo, rice for N1,500, and petrol for between N1,200 and N1,700.

But now, prices are coming down. Things are getting better in Nigeria, and we should allow the Renewed Hope Agenda to continue.”
Asagunla stressed that AMG’s activities were not an early campaign but a grassroots sensitisation drive.
“What we are doing now is not campaigning. We are sensitising people about the policies that touch the lives of the downtrodden. When they benefit from these policies, they will naturally support Asiwaju when the time comes,” he explained.
AMG’s Director of Special Duties, Balajobi Babatunde, said the commissioning was inspired by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who encouraged the group to take proactive steps in support of the president’s vision.
“By the special grace of God, we have 203 wards in Ondo State, and we are inaugurating 10 executives from each ward, 2,030 in total. As you can see, the mammoth crowd here shows its support for our dear president,” Babatunde said.
He also dismissed claims of rivalry with other Tinubu support groups, stressing that AMG’s work complements broader efforts to entrench the president’s reforms.
“We are not working at cross purposes with any other group,” he said. “Our goal is the same ensuring the continuity and success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
