Panic gripped residents of Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, on Monday after unidentified gunmen shot dead a repentant bandit, Kyoga Joka, at the town’s main market, Eko Hot Blog reports.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers stormed the busy market and opened fire on Joka, who was reportedly serving with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Ukum.
He was killed on the spot, sparking chaos as traders and shoppers fled in fear to escape the gunfire.

Security operatives were said to have moved into the area shortly after the incident, though details about the assailants and possible motives remain unclear.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
