Tinubu extended condolences to Maduagwu’s family, the management and staff of Arise News Television, and the Nigerian media community, stressing that her death was not only a personal tragedy to her loved ones but also a national loss.

The President directed security and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, pledging to strengthen measures against crime in all forms.
On Monday, Arise News Channel announced that Maduagwu had died after sustaining injuries during the robbery. Colleagues later disclosed during Tuesday’s edition of The Morning Show that she survived an initial fall while fleeing the armed robbers but was allegedly denied treatment at a hospital, a situation they described as “preventable.”
Anchor Ojy Okpe, who broke down on air, lamented: “She jumped down from her home when she heard that 14 armed robbers had invaded the house. She did not die on the spot. She was taken to the hospital, but she was rejected. Sommie’s life could have been saved, but the hospital refused to treat her.”
