The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that the ongoing infrastructural transformation across Abuja reflects the fulfilment of President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the nation’s capital.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Wike stated this on Monday while inaugurating the construction of Mohammed Isa Road Extension in the Asokoro District of Abuja.

He dismissed critics who claimed President Tinubu was not delivering on his promises, insisting that the remarkable development within the FCT was a direct result of the President’s leadership and guidance.
“You cannot say FCT is working and Mr President is not working. It doesn’t make sense,” Wike said. “He is working through us. We carry out his directives and vision, which is that the FCT must compete favourably with other major cities of the world and that is exactly what we are doing.”
The minister urged Nigerians to be fair and truthful in their assessments, noting that if similar development projects had been executed in the past, the Tinubu administration could have focused its resources elsewhere.

“The Abuja you saw two years ago is not the Abuja you see today and it won’t be the same tomorrow,” he added.
Wike called for continued public support for the current administration, saying President Tinubu had shown genuine commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
He highlighted that the Federal Capital Territory Administration was implementing projects across several sectors, including education, transportation, health, roads, and sports, to promote balanced and inclusive growth.
“We have touched transport, roads, sports, education, and now health. No sector will be left untouched. All we ask for is patience and patience means giving us time,” he said.
Wike also emphasized that the success of ongoing development projects depends largely on revenue generation, particularly through tax compliance.
“All these good roads, drainage systems, and streetlights are possible because you pay taxes. So please continue to do so, and we’ll keep building more,” he urged residents.
Although Wike is officially a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he currently serves in President Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
He has often faced criticism from within his party, with some accusing him of working against the PDP. However, Wike has repeatedly maintained his loyalty to the PDP, even as speculation about a possible defection to the APC continues to trail him.
