Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Diri announced his departure on Wednesday at the executive chamber in the Bayelsa State Government House.

The Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abraham Ngobere, alongside 18 PDP lawmakers, also submitted their resignations from the opposition party.

Governor Diri’s exit occurs just 24 hours after his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mbah, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
With this development, the PDP has now lost four governors this year and holds only eight governorship seats nationwide.
As of the time of reporting, Governor Diri has not yet declared his next political move.
