The command said security operatives were immediately deployed after receiving information about the attack. Officers evacuated the victim to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Police disclosed that doctors attending to Ajibola have reported that his condition is stable and that he is responding positively to medical care.
Meanwhile, security teams have launched a manhunt for the attackers, who fled the scene after the shooting. Investigators also recovered several items believed to be connected to the incident, which are now undergoing forensic examination.
Condemning the attack, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan ordered an intensive investigation and directed relevant units of the command to deploy all available resources toward identifying and arresting those responsible.
The police assured residents that efforts were underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. Members of the public were also encouraged to provide useful information that could aid the investigation.
Reacting separately, the Osun State Government expressed concern over the attack, describing it as disturbing and unacceptable.
Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said Ajibola remained under medical supervision at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo.

According to Alimi, one of the occupants of the vehicle carrying the victim recounted that they were travelling through the MDS area when armed men suddenly pursued them and fired multiple shots at the vehicle.
The occupants reportedly escaped and sought refuge at the nearby Dugbe Divisional Police Headquarters, forcing the attackers to retreat.
The state government urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, stressing that everyone connected to the attack must be identified and prosecuted.
Alimi added that available indications suggest the incident may have political undertones, making it imperative for investigators to uncover the masterminds behind the assault and ensure justice is served.
