The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac, under the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Matilda Ngbanoyen, has passed away while receiving medical treatment in Lagos.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to reports from the Lagos State Police Command, as cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred late on Thursday, October 24, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., at the Mayriamville Medical Centre in Bode Thomas, Surulere, where the senior officer was undergoing treatment for fibroid complications.
Following her death, a delegation from the Command visited the hospital to confirm the development and make necessary arrangements. “The corpse was evacuated to a public morgue for preservation and autopsy,” police sources confirmed.
The Lagos State Police Command has begun working with the late officer’s family to organise a befitting burial in her honour. In a condolence message, the Command described CSP Ngbanoyen as a disciplined, professional, and dedicated officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with distinction and integrity.
Her sudden death has thrown colleagues and officers of the Command into mourning, with many describing her as a committed leader who carried out her duties with fairness and compassion.

The Command extended heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues, praying for the repose of her soul and the strength for her loved ones to bear the loss.
