Grammy-winning artist Justin Bieber has sparked excitement online after two videos surfaced showing him vibing to Nigerian singer Fireboy DML’s hit song “Playboy.”
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the Canadian pop icon, known for global hits like “Peaches” and his remix of Wizkid and Tems’ “Essence,” shared one of the videos on his X and Instagram pages on Saturday.

The first clip, reportedly captured during The League basketball game in Los Angeles on October 23, featured Bieber playing for his team, SKYLRK, against Nahmias. Fireboy’s 2022 Afrobeats anthem played in the background as Bieber confidently made several impressive shots.

A second clip, posted by another user identified as #AsakyGRN, showed the singer mouthing the lyrics to the song, singing along to the line, “Shawty wanna play with a big boy like me.” The videos quickly went viral, gaining over 90,000 likes and sparking debates among fans.
While many praised Bieber for showing love to African music, others questioned whether the track was part of the live event or edited in later.

One fan, #jbanj, commented, “Shout out to Fireboy for the background music — Playboy never misses.” On Instagram, user #stevoskys added, “This is proof Fireboy DML is recognised and respected outside Nigeria.”
The viral clips coincided with one of Bieber’s recent livestreams, where he discussed themes of faith, hate, and personal growth, though the Playboy moment was not part of the broadcast.
Fireboy DML, signed to YBNL Nation and Empire, released “Playboy” in August 2022 as the title track of his third studio album.
