EKO HOT BLOG reports that Oyebanji, who was the sole aspirant, was unanimously affirmed by 885 delegates drawn from all 177 wards of the state, in accordance with the party’s internal guidelines and the Electoral Act, 2022.
His emergence followed the withdrawal of Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo and the disqualification of two other aspirants, Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olajumoke, who were ruled out after failing to meet the party’s stipulated requirements.
During the APC governorship primary held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, Omolayo announced her withdrawal from the race, citing Oyebanji’s impressive performance and developmental achievements as reasons for her decision.
“Governor Oyebanji has performed excellently well. His achievements in infrastructure, governance, and inclusiveness speak volumes. He deserves a second term, and that is why I am stepping down to support him fully,” she stated.
Omolayo further revealed that she had collapsed her political structure across the 16 local government areas of the state to support Oyebanji’s re-election bid, describing her action as a show of loyalty to the APC and a commitment to Ekiti’s progress.
Following her withdrawal, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved a motion for the ratification of Oyebanji’s nomination as the APC governorship candidate, which was seconded by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye.

In line with Section 84(11) of the Electoral Act 2022, the motion was put to a voice vote, and the delegates unanimously endorsed Oyebanji as the party’s flag bearer for the 2026 election.
