The Presidency has commended the Senate for the smooth and speedy screening and confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, described the exercise as a testament to the strong partnership between the Executive and the Legislature in safeguarding Nigeria’s security and sovereignty.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Wednesday, Lado praised the Senate for its prompt and thorough consideration of the nominations, saying the appointments reflect President Tinubu’s strategic move to strengthen the Armed Forces and enhance national security coordination.
He stated, “The appointment of Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Major Gen. Waidi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, AVM Sunday K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff represents a deliberate effort by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to reinforce Nigeria’s security architecture and promote synergy among the Armed Forces to protect our nation’s sovereignty and citizens.”
Lado, who played a key role in facilitating communication between both arms of government, also extended his appreciation to the Senate leadership for their cooperation during the confirmation process.

“I extend my profound gratitude to the President of the Senate, the Senate leadership, and Distinguished Senators for the prompt and diligent consideration that led to the confirmation of the new Service Chiefs. Their action reflects the shared commitment of both arms of government to advancing national interests and ensuring the safety and stability of our dear nation,” the statement added.
