In an emotional statement released on Monday, his family described him as a “legendary performer, cultural icon, and guardian of rhythm and artistry”, noting that his legacy transcended music.

“Akinloye Tofowomo was not only a musician but a custodian of rhythm, culture, and artistic expression,” the statement read.

Through Shuga Entertainment, he built a brand celebrated for professionalism, excellence, and artistic innovation.
Akiin Shuga also served as the founding president of the Association of Music Band Owners of Nigeria (AMBON), where he advocated for better welfare, respect, and standards within the live music industry.

His influence extended far beyond the stage, mentoring young artists and redefining Nigeria’s live performance culture.
