The Ibeju-Lekki Community Development Committee (CDC) celebrated its 2025 Community Day on Thursday with grandeur and purpose, reinforcing the ideals of unity, accountability, and participatory governance under the theme “Building Socio-Economic and Civic Engagement.”

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, while other dignitaries in attendance included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, and the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, alongside all members of the legislature.

In his keynote address, Hon. Olowa commended the CDC for its dedication to community growth and promised to strengthen the partnership between the council and community stakeholders.
“When citizens engage civically, they give voice to their communities. When communities organize socio-economically, they create opportunities that empower families and sustain livelihoods,” he said.
A significant part of the event was the presentation of a stewardship report by the CDC Chairman, Comrade Jabita Felix Adeboye, who outlined the committee’s achievements during his tenure.
“From road rehabilitation, solar-powered streetlights, transformers, water projects, to improved health centers, our goal has been simple — to make life better for our people,” he said, receiving a round of applause from attendees.
Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, commended the CDC for its effective collaboration, which has yielded tangible developmental outcomes in the area.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Lagos Advisory Council for CDCs, Dr. Azeez Hamzat, praised the leadership of Comrade Adeboye for their commitment and excellence, while also applauding Hon. Olowa for his visible support for community-driven initiatives.
Cultural displays, awards of excellence, and recognition of outstanding community contributors added color to the day’s celebrations.
