The inaugural African Marketplace Dubai 2025, a global showcase for African and Caribbean creativity, entrepreneurship and culture, opened on Tuesday, 12 November 2025 at the Exhibition Centre of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the international event, which runs until Saturday, 15 November, is receiving strong backing from the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in line with the State’s drive to promote its cultural assets and expand Africa’s creative visibility on the world stage.

Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Adebopo Oyekan-Ismaila, who is leading a delegation of senior management staff to the global marketplace.

Organised by the Ibukun Awosika Leadership Academy (IALA), the African Marketplace Dubai serves as a curated business and cultural platform that connects African and Caribbean brands with international distributors, buyers and investors. It also provides a vibrant space to celebrate African identity, support multicultural trade and build new investment channels for the diaspora economy.
This year’s edition features over 150 Lagos-based participants, including members of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), Lagos State Chapter, led by Mrs. Bolaji Mustapha. Their strong presence underscores Lagos State’s role as a major economic and cultural hub, committed to strengthening global partnerships and advancing Africa’s creative and tourism-driven industries.
