The event featured interactive discussions, career talks, and Question-and-Answer sessions, equipping pupils with vital knowledge to make informed decisions about their health, safety, and future aspirations.
In her welcome address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Basic Education, Mrs. Yewande Cole-Jeje, said the initiative was designed to enlighten young girls on essential aspects of personal hygiene, self-development, and protection against abuse.
She encouraged the pupils to be bold and ambitious, stating:
“As girls, you shouldn’t limit yourselves, be courageous to take space in professional and leadership positions. You have the power to influence change and contribute meaningfully to society.”

The Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, reaffirmed the State Government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being and safety of every child in public primary schools.
He urged the girls to protect themselves and speak up against any form of abuse.
“Your body is a treasure; you must value it and always protect it from any form of abuse and discomfort.
Don’t allow anyone to take advantage of you, when you notice indecent gestures or movements, speak up.”
Dr. Shittu added that the sensitisation aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda, particularly the Education and Technology pillar, which prioritises child safety and empowerment.
Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, commended the initiative as a strategic step toward strengthening child protection in Lagos schools.
He called on teachers, parents, and caregivers to reinforce the lessons learned during the programme for long-term impact.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Dr. Oluwaoni Adeyemi, facilitated a session on Personal Hygiene, advising the pupils to maintain daily hygiene practices, especially during their menstrual cycle.
“Maintaining good hygiene not only promotes physical health but also builds confidence and self-respect,” she said.
Speaking on sexual abuse prevention, Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Abolarin urged the pupils to be courageous and report any abuse they encounter.
“Silence empowers abusers. Every child has the right to protection and justice,” she stressed.
She also shared a dedicated helpline for reporting abuse, assuring that speaking up is the first step to getting help and ensuring safety.
Faridah Musa, a pupil of Ansar-Ud-Deen Public Primary School, described the programme as enlightening, saying it had given them the courage to speak up and maintain healthy habits.
“The session really opened our eyes. Now I know how important it is to stay clean and report any abuse,” she said.
