- NIDCOM, InnoPower Africa Tackle Youth Unemployment with Global Opportunities
- The initiative will operate through a comprehensive talent ecosystem
- Mr Emil Ekiyor said the initiative would bridge long-standing gaps that have hindered Nigerian professionals from accessing global opportunities
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has launched a new partnership designed to connect thousands of young Nigerian professionals to remote job opportunities in diaspora-owned businesses across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement signed by Remy Chukwunyere, Director at InnoPower Africa Foundation, the programme is positioned as a strategic response to Nigeria’s rising youth unemployment, aiming to equip graduates and early-career professionals with the skills and exposure needed to compete in the global digital economy.

According to the organisers, the initiative will operate through a comprehensive talent ecosystem built in collaboration with leading Nigerian institutions, including ITANA. Under this system, skilled youths will be identified, trained and matched with international firms through a dedicated secure digital business zone.
The ecosystem also integrates the University of Lagos’ African Research Universities Alliance Centre of Excellence for Unemployment and Skills Development, as well as the National Talent Export Programme. These partners will deliver advanced training in technical skills, communication, and global remote-work standards.
Founder of InnoPower Africa, Mr Emil Ekiyor, said the initiative would bridge long-standing gaps that have hindered Nigerian professionals from accessing global opportunities.

“Nigerian talents are world-class and ready to deliver value. What has been missing is not capability, but access, preparation and connection. Through this collaboration with NIDCOM and our partners, we are building the infrastructure to make Nigerian professionals visible and competitive in global markets,” he said.
Nigeria, home to Africa’s largest pool of digitally skilled young people, is seen as well-positioned to supply remote talent to diaspora-owned businesses seeking virtual assistants, digital marketers, business support specialists and other remote service roles. The programme is expected to generate shared economic benefits for both Nigeria and its diaspora communities.
A major component of the initiative is a paid internship scheme at the University of Lagos that will give high-performing students early exposure to global standards through direct collaboration with international companies. The internship is expected to help participants transition smoothly into full-time remote roles upon graduation.
At the heart of the placement structure is Fast Track Virtual, InnoPower’s digital talent-matching platform. It will oversee the vetting, skills development, cultural immersion and quality assurance processes for candidates seeking global experience.
Diaspora-owned businesses listed in the NIDCOM database will also receive discounted service rates during the first year of engaging a Nigerian professional under the programme.
NIDCOM Chairperson, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the partnership reflects the Commission’s mandate to harness the capacity of the Nigerian diaspora for national development.
“NIDCOM is proud to champion this initiative, which aligns with our mission to mobilise the diaspora as active contributors to Nigeria’s progress. Nigerians abroad are employers, mentors and champions who can directly create opportunities for their brothers and sisters at home,” she said.
