Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Face” Idibia has been named the country’s National Fire Safety Ambassador by the Federal Government.

The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Samuel Adeyemi, who was represented by Deputy Controller General Aliyu Tambari, confirmed the appointment.
According to Adeyemi, the selection of 2Face is intended to support a nationwide campaign promoting preventive fire safety and a change in behavior among Nigerians.
The FFS aims to combat the prevalent mindset of “It won’t happen to me,” which was also the focus of this year’s National Fire Safety Week. The theme for the week was “Building a Culture of Fire Safety Across Nigeria: Overcoming the ‘Not My Portion’ Mentality”.
Throughout the week-long event, the FFS conducted various public awareness activities, including drills, roadshows, and live demonstrations, to teach people how to prevent and manage fire hazards.
Adeyemi praised the public’s strong engagement and interest in learning about fire prevention. He also commended 2Face for taking on the role, noting that his widespread influence will help deliver the fire safety message more effectively to communities.
The Controller General expects the artist to motivate a new generation to embrace a culture of safety.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to prioritize caution over negligence and to treat safety as a constant responsibility.
