- Six electricity poles were vandalised overnight along the Shala–Molajoye axis of the Epe power line.
- Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman led a joint security inspection, condemning the incident as deliberate sabotage.
- Councils vow intensified surveillance and collaboration with security agencies to bring perpetrators to justice.
In response to the renewed vandalisation of electricity cables supplying power to the Epe corridor, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, on Sunday visited the damaged section of the Epe power line near the Shala–Molajoye axis, where six poles were reportedly tampered with during a midnight attack.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Anomo was accompanied by the Joint Security Taskforce, the multi-agency security team established last year to curb recurring vandalisation of power infrastructure that previously plunged Epe and surrounding communities into prolonged darkness.

The taskforce, made up of various security formations and community security groups, joined the Chairman to assess the extent of the damage and activate immediate security measures.
During the inspection, the Chairman condemned the incident as a deliberate act of sabotage aimed at destabilising economic activities and undermining community wellbeing.
He expressed deep concern that the attack resembles the coordinated vandalism recorded last year, which left the Epe Federal Constituency without electricity for several months.
“It is disheartening that our people have to endure this kind of calculated hardship again,” Anomo said.
“We will not fold our arms while a few criminal elements sabotage government efforts, disrupt livelihoods, and inflict unnecessary suffering on our communities. This act is criminal, wicked and absolutely unacceptable.”
Issuing a stern warning to those behind the crime, Anomo stressed that the three councils ,Epe, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejinrin, in close collaboration with security agencies, will strengthen surveillance along the power line route and ensure that those responsible are identified, apprehended and prosecuted.
He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to protecting public infrastructure for the collective good.
Anomo assured residents that the LCDA, working with relevant authorities, will expedite emergency actions to secure the affected power corridor and support efforts to restore electricity to the area.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements around public assets.
