EKO HOT BLOG reports that the governor also conveyed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the prompt federal intervention that ensured the safe release of the 24 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Maga last week.
Both leaders discussed enhanced federal and state collaboration to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve rapid response operations and deepen joint efforts between security agencies. President Tinubu commended Idris for his steady handling of security matters and assured him of continued federal support for development progress in Kebbi State.
Idris was accompanied to the meeting by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Government has given further details on how the governor led the efforts that secured the freedom of the abducted schoolgirls. Students of Government Girls Community Secondary School Maga were kidnapped on November 17, 2025, prompting widespread concern across the country.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Yakubu, said the abduction revived painful memories of past school kidnappings and raised fears over prolonged rescue delays. He described Idris’s response as immediate and determined.
Yakubu explained that the governor cancelled a major official event in Abuja and travelled directly to Maga to meet the families. He maintained steady communication with security agencies, community leaders and national stakeholders, insisting that the abducted students must return safely without ransom.
The state government expressed concern over the withdrawal of troops previously stationed at the school around 3 am, noting that the attackers struck less than an hour later, resulting in two deaths.
Yakubu confirmed that all twenty four students were released unharmed eight days after the attack. He dismissed online speculation about abuse or ransom payments, describing the rescue as a result of “decisive leadership, courage and swift action.”

He also acknowledged the support of President Tinubu, the military and clerics, adding that the government remains grateful for the safe return of the girls and is committed to ensuring their education continues without disruption.
