President Bola Tinubu has traveled to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to attend the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit, which will take place from Monday, January 27, to Tuesday, January 28.
The summit, hosted by the Tanzanian government with support from the World Bank and African Development Bank, will bring together African leaders, private sector representatives, development partners, and civil society groups to discuss ways to improve energy access across Africa.

Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said the event will focus on sharing ideas, expertise, and resources to tackle Africa’s energy challenges. Topics will include expanding energy access to underserved areas, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and encouraging private sector investment.
On the first day, countries, including Nigeria, will present their national energy plans, called compacts, which outline their strategies for providing energy to all citizens within five years.

On the second day, African leaders will sign the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which sets a unified plan to achieve the “Mission 300” energy goals.
President Tinubu will deliver a speech reaffirming Nigeria’s dedication to providing universal energy access and its leadership in Africa’s energy sector. He will also discuss Nigeria’s clean energy projects and plans for integrated energy solutions across the continent.

Tinubu is accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Energy Adviser Olu Verheijen, and other senior government officials.
