Human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been re-elected as the National Chairman of the African Action Congress after a keenly attended National Convention held on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the convention, which took place in the presence of party delegates, key stakeholders, media representatives and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, produced a new National Working Committee that the party says will drive its push for people-focused governance and a reformed political culture.
Participants at the convention reaffirmed the party’s commitment to challenging existing political structures and advancing a system anchored on equity, justice and accountable leadership.
The newly elected National Working Committee includes Omoyele Sowore as National Chairman, Pastor Sam Ajeigbe as Deputy National Chairman for Administration, Enefa Georgewill as Deputy National Chairman for the South South, Chioma Ifemeludike as Deputy National Chairman for the South East, Lijofi Victor as Deputy National Chairman for the South West and John Nicodemus as Deputy National Chairman for the North East.
Others elected are Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghens as National Secretary, Kunle Ajayi as Deputy National Secretary, Abdullahi Usman as Organizing National Secretary and Erupre Gift Precious as National Treasurer. The list also includes Faith Enattah Orinya as National Financial Secretary, Rex Elanu as National Publicity Secretary, Haruna Garba Magashi as National Auditor, Inibehe Effiong as National Legal Adviser, Orawusi Imanah Abosade as National Women Leader and Yahaya Muhammad as National Youth Leader.
Speaking after his re-election, Sowore stated that the party remains committed to dismantling structures that entrench poverty, insecurity and political exclusion. He stressed that the convention demonstrated the type of transparent and participatory democracy that the country needs.
Sowore added that the party is focused on building a new national direction driven by justice, fairness and true representation.

The convention was supervised by the AAC National Convention Planning Committee chaired by Kayode Babayomi, with Ambassador Umar Y. Abubakar serving as secretary.
