Lagos State has retained its position as Nigeria’s top-performing state in the prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), marking its third consecutive year at the top of the national ranking.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the annual sub-national assessment, carried out by Invictus Africa with support from the Ford Foundation, is based strictly on data and measures states’ performance across four major areas: prevention and awareness, support services, legal and policy framework, and budget allocation.

Receiving the award on behalf of the state, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing sustained political support that has strengthened Lagos’ response system.

She also commended Lagos residents for embracing the state’s zero-tolerance stance and supporting ongoing efforts to combat SGBV.
Vivour-Adeniyi reiterated that the Lagos State Government will continue to improve its strategies and interventions. She emphasised that the state remains committed to protecting survivors, ensuring perpetrators face justice, and intensifying preventive measures to drastically reduce cases of gender-based violence.
