A 35-year-old labourer identified as Joshua has been arrested and detained at the Boundary Police Division in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State for allegedly stabbing his site supervisor, Sopiriala Sokari, during a dispute over a N10,000 payment.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred along the Obiri Ikwerre Road after an argument broke out over the payment for a block-moving job worth N20,000.

Witnesses said Sokari attempted to pay Joshua N10,000 upfront while verifying the completed work, but the suspect insisted on receiving the full amount immediately.
The disagreement escalated when Joshua reportedly smashed a bottle and attacked Sokari. An eyewitness, a food vendor at the scene, even offered Joshua N20,000 in a bid to calm him down, but despite accepting the money, he allegedly stabbed Sokari with the broken bottle.
Speaking to journalists from his hospital bed after regaining consciousness, Sokari said he had only asked to confirm the work before paying the balance.

He recounted:
“I told him to take N10,000 first so I could confirm the job, but he refused. He confronted me again while I was eating and demanded the full payment. The next thing, he broke a bottle and stabbed me, even after a woman gave him N20,000 to avoid trouble. I need justice.”
Sokari is currently receiving treatment for severe injuries at Cottage Solution Hospital in Mbodo Aluu.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed Joshua’s arrest and said a full investigation is underway.
