EKO HOT BLOG reports that the outbreak, marked by symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting, was announced in a statement issued by Dr. Patrick Essiet, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, on Sunday.

Dr. Essiet revealed that the state epidemiologist had already been dispatched to the community to begin awareness campaigns aimed at controlling the spread of the disease.
Additionally, health officials have visited a secondary health facility in the state to assess the exact number of affected individuals.
The Ministry of Health has advised the community to practice proper hand washing, particularly after defecation, and to boil drinking water before consumption.

Anyone displaying symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting should seek immediate medical attention at the nearest health facility. The Ministry also reminded community leaders to enforce the government’s ban on open defecation.
