- Ijebu-Ode Ruling House Disowns KWAM 1, Says He Has No Links to Fusengbuwa Lineage
- The ruling house also questioned the legitimacy of the certification attached to Ayinde’s form
- Otunba Lateef Owoyemi said an internal inquiry showed no evidence connecting Ayinde to the Jadiara Royal House
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has disowned Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1, declaring that he has no ancestral ties to the lineage eligible to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a letter dated December 11, 2025, the ruling house dismissed the lineage linkage form submitted by the musician for the succession process, describing it as “null, void, and of no consequence.”

The letter, signed by the chairman of the ruling house, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, said an internal inquiry showed no evidence connecting Ayinde to the Jadiara Royal House or the broader Fusengbuwa lineage.
“Our extensive investigation has not revealed any proof of your membership of the Jadiara Royal House or indeed that of Fusengbuwa Ruling House,” the family stated.
The ruling house also questioned the legitimacy of the certification attached to Ayinde’s form, noting that it was endorsed by Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, whom they described as a “purported family unit head” without any recognised authority in the royal hierarchy. According to Owoyemi, Oduneye “has no locus standi” to certify documents on behalf of the ruling house.

Another point of concern was the date discrepancy on the form, which was certified on December 8, two days before Ayinde signed it on December 10. The family described the form as “presigned.”
The rejection intensifies the debate around Ayinde’s entry into the Awujale succession race, particularly given his long-standing association with the Fidipote Ruling House, under which he holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebuland.
Earlier on Thursday, multiple family heads from the Jadiara and Bubiade units publicly distanced themselves from Ayinde’s claims, insisting that neither he nor his father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe, belonged to their bloodline.
Ayinde, who received an extension beyond the December 5 deadline, had claimed descent from the Setejoye family unit of the Jadiara Royal House.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House said it convened an emergency meeting to address the rising tensions triggered by the musician’s application, as interest grows in the selection of a new Awujale following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July after a 65-year reign.
