- NELFUND Clears Tuition Fees for 5,386 KWASU Students with ₦997.8m Disbursement

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦997,833,250 to 5,386 students of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, under the 2024/2025 academic session.
Eko Hot Blog reports that NELFUND announced the disbursement on Monday via a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, describing it as a major intervention aimed at easing the financial burden on students.

According to the Fund, the payment covers tuition and statutory charges for the beneficiaries, allowing them to continue their studies without disruption.
“Kwara State University, Malete has received a significant NELFUND credit for the 2024/2025 academic session. Amount: ₦997,833,250. Students: 5,386,” the post stated.
The Fund added that the intervention ensures that thousands of undergraduates can focus fully on their academic pursuits without the pressure of outstanding school fees.
KWASU has also confirmed the receipt of the funds. In a communiqué dated 17 November 2025, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, formally acknowledged the payment in a letter addressed to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND.
The letter stated that the university received the sum on 6 November 2025 as student loan disbursement for the 5,386 beneficiaries.

On behalf of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and NELFUND for what he described as the timely processing and release of the funds, noting that the intervention would significantly support access to education and student welfare at the university.
The disbursement is part of the Federal Government’s broader education financing framework aimed at expanding access to higher education through the student loan scheme.
