According to him, the rigorous scrutiny was designed to ensure that every financial request aligns with the developmental priorities, growth agenda, and overall welfare objectives of Lagos State.
“This critical exercise centered on rigorously promoting transparency and accountability in public expenditure, ensuring that every financial proposal is subjected to stringent legislative scrutiny to prevent waste and redundancy,” Hon. Tobun stated.
He explained that the session went beyond routine budget review, as MDAs were required to provide clear, evidence-based justifications for their proposed allocations to guarantee value for money and measurable impact.

“This multi-day session was fundamental to the LSHA’s oversight responsibility, confirming that all proposed budgetary allocations are strategically and fully aligned with the developmental priorities, growth agenda, and collective welfare objectives of Lagos State,” he added.
Hon. Tobun further emphasized that the legislature’s approach is geared toward delivering a people-focused and sustainable 2026 budget capable of driving long-term prosperity across the state.
“By demanding evidence-based justifications for resource allocation, the legislature is ensuring the 2026 budget will be a sustainable framework for governance, capable of delivering measurable outcomes and advancing the state’s long-term prosperity,” he said.
