The Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, HRM Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, alongside the newly installed traditional chiefs, has officially unveiled a historical book titled The Memoirs of Igbooye’s Traditional Chiefs and the Brief History of Igbooye, a publication dedicated to preserving the kingdom’s rich heritage, leadership values and ancestral identity.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the book unveiling formed a major highlight of the chieftaincy installation ceremony and was witnessed by royal fathers, community leaders, scholars and indigenes of the kingdom.

Speaking at the event, the author of the book, Mr. Okeowo Oluwaseun Emmanuel, described the publication as a carefully curated tapestry of heritage, leadership and history.
He explained that the book documents the lives and journeys of Igbooye’s newly installed traditional chiefs, capturing their early beginnings, lineage, struggles, achievements and lasting contributions to the development of the community and society at large.
According to the author, each chapter reflects lessons drawn from the lives of the chiefs, emphasising values such as selflessness, dedication, discipline and passion for community growth.
He noted that the narratives were deliberately crafted to inspire present and future generations. He said, “These stories reflect leadership built on sacrifice, service and commitment to the collective progress of Igbooye.”
Mr. Okeowo further explained that the book was anchored on personal interviews, extensive research and rich accounts sourced from both written records and oral traditions.
He stated that the publication also explores the brief ancestral origin of Igbooye Kingdom, with particular focus on the evolution and significance of the Orijeru stool, tracing its journey from time immemorial to the present day.
He described the book as more than a historical archive, noting that it stands as a tribute purposefully curated to preserve the legacy and identity of Igbooye for generations yet unborn.
According to him, the work remains relevant not only to indigenes of the kingdom but also to scholars, cultural enthusiasts and admirers of Yoruba history.
Unveiling the book, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa commended the author for documenting the kingdom’s history and leadership structure, describing the publication as a timely contribution to cultural preservation.
The monarch noted that the involvement of the newly installed chiefs in the unveiling symbolised unity, continuity and shared responsibility in safeguarding the heritage of Igbooye.
The newly installed chiefs also lauded the initiative, describing the book as a valuable record that captures their collective journey and reinforces their commitment to service, peace and development within the kingdom.
The unveiling of The Memoirs of Igbooye’s Traditional Chiefs and the Brief History of Igbooye reaffirmed Igbooye Kingdom’s resolve to preserve its history, strengthen its traditional institutions and pass on its cultural values to future generations.
