The NNPP national leader congratulated the electoral body on the emergence of its new chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, stressing that the credibility of Nigeria’s democracy largely depends on how elections are conducted.

Kwankwaso noted that INEC’s responsibilities are so critical that its actions could either strengthen or weaken democratic governance, adding that the party expects improved collaboration with the commission.
He also assured members that the NNPP leadership at all levels would intensify efforts to expand the party’s influence nationwide, while commending the Kano State governor for his continued support.
The convention ratified decisions of the party’s National Executive Committee and confirmed members of the National Working Committee, as the NNPP sharpens its strategy ahead of the 2027 polls following its strong outing in the 2023 elections.

Speaking at the event, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf described the convention as a defining moment and urged party leaders to embrace inclusiveness, warning that exclusion could weaken internal cohesion.
In his acceptance remarks, re-elected National Chairman, Dr Ajuji Ahmed, said lessons from the last election would guide the party’s renewed push, pledging commitment to internal democracy and national development.
Other speakers, including Board of Trustees Secretary, Buba Galadima, emphasised that the NNPP’s strength lies in grassroots acceptance rather than dependence on political heavyweights.
