Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor was officially received into the APC on Friday in Jos, where the state chairman of the party, Mr Rufus Bature, presented him with his APC membership card.

Speaking during the defection ceremony, Mutfwang said his decision to join the ruling party was taken in the overall interest of Plateau State. He assured residents that his administration would continue to run an inclusive government, irrespective of political affiliations.
Describing the move as a defining moment for the state, the governor urged citizens to remain united and patient, stressing that the benefits of the decision would become evident with time.
According to him, the defection was not about division but cooperation and collective progress, assuring those who may feel apprehensive that his government remained focused on development and stability.

Mutfwang also expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him with a platform that shaped his political journey, noting that his move to the APC would further motivate him to deliver quality leadership and accelerate development across Plateau State.
The governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his commitment and affection for Plateau State, pledging his support for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
