She noted that the visible excitement among the children captured the essence of the programme, stressing that their smiles reflected the success of the ministry’s efforts to spread love and care.
“When children are joyful, the entire society feels it. Our goal was to show affection, compassion and attention to these children, particularly during their holidays when they deserve to feel special and remembered,” the commissioner said.

Idris-Kuta expressed appreciation to Governor Umaru Bago and the First Lady, Fatima Bago, for their continued support for child welfare initiatives in the state.
She added that the children were entertained with food, snacks, drinks and other treats, describing their enthusiasm as proof that the programme achieved its purpose.
The commissioner further disclosed that the ministry has outlined several child-focused projects, with priority given to education, digital awareness, computer training and exposure to modern technology.
“Our aim is to prepare our children for today’s fast-changing world, equipping them with relevant skills while ensuring their safety, wellbeing and adaptability,” she added.
Also addressing the children, Ramatu Batamangi, wife of the Chief of Staff, who represented the First Lady, said the celebration was organised to share warmth, kindness and encouragement with the young ones as they stepped into the New Year.

She described the First Lady, Fatima Bago, as a compassionate mother figure who finds fulfilment in celebrating with children beyond festive periods.
“She regards every child as her own and takes pride in seeing them happy. That is why we are here—to reassure them that they are cherished and never alone,” she said.
Some of the children, including Ismaila Christopher and Eniola Samuel, who spoke after winning a dance competition at the event, could not hide their excitement.
“I am very happy because I won the dance contest. That is why I am wearing this T-shirt. I thank our mother, Fatima Bago, and our Governor, Umaru Bago. We are happy to celebrate here,” they said.
The celebration wrapped up on a high note, filled with music, dancing and renewed optimism, as the children embraced the New Year with hope and smiles.
