Instead, they aim to improve efficiency, block revenue leakages, and reduce overdependence on oil revenue, which has long constrained funding for infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.
Highlighting the low tax-to-GDP ratio in Nigeria, Folarin noted that the reforms focus on broadening the tax base rather than raising rates indiscriminately, with protections maintained for low-income earners through existing thresholds and exemptions. He explained that greater responsibility would fall on higher-income earners, large corporations, and sectors with weak compliance records.
Beyond fiscal matters, Folarin conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s gratitude to party members and Nigerians for their support during the 2023 presidential election. He also announced that the Oyo State APC aims to improve its electoral performance by at least 35 per cent ahead of the 2027 elections.

Senator Folarin encouraged continued public support, asserting that institutional reforms are taking root, the economy is stabilizing, and confidence is being restored.
Speaking alongside him, Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Sharafadeen Alli, Ayo Adeseun, Hosea Agboola, and Pharm. Olayide Abass urged APC members to maintain discipline and strengthen internal cohesion.
Former deputy governors, including Chief Iyiola Oladokun, Chief Moses Alake, and Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, as well as party stalwarts like Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Engr. Idris Adeoye, Mrs. Hanna Ogunesan, Prof. Adeolu Akande, and several others, reiterated the call for unity.
The leaders stressed that success in the 2027 elections depends on cooperation, discipline, and collective commitment, warning against internal rivalry that could undermine the party’s prospects.
