EKO HOT BLOG reports that Osbourne, the minister’s first son, arrived at the APC state secretariat in Abakaliki alongside a large crowd of supporters who escorted him to the venue, signalling strong grassroots backing ahead of the party primaries.
He was received by members of the APC State Executive Committee, led by the state chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha.
Speaking during the event, Okoro Emegha described Osbourne Umahi as an intelligent, capable and forward thinking young politician and businessman. He expressed confidence that the aspirant possesses the capacity to provide effective leadership and drive development in Ohaozara Local Government Area.
The APC chairman said the party was encouraged by the increasing participation of young people in governance, noting that youth inclusion at the grassroots level was critical to sustainable development and political renewal.
Addressing journalists after picking the forms, Osbourne Umahi thanked the people of Ohaozara for nominating him to contest for the chairmanship position, describing the gesture as a call to service.
“I am grateful to the people of Ohaozara for the trust and confidence they have shown in me. I promise not to disappoint them,” he said.
The chairmanship aspirant said his administration, if elected, would place priority on youth empowerment, stressing that young people remain the backbone of long term economic growth and social stability.
He also pledged to sustain and build on the infrastructure development legacy associated with his father across the local government area, while introducing people focused initiatives aimed at improving service delivery at the grassroots.
The APC local government primaries are scheduled to hold on January 25.

If Osbourne Umahi emerges as the party’s candidate, he will contest the local government election against candidates of other political parties in the August polls.
