Findings indicate that many lawmakers are facing their toughest challenges not from opposition parties, but from fellow APC members, turning party primaries into intense political battlegrounds.
In Epe Constituency I, long-serving lawmaker Abiodun Tobun is facing a strong challenge from former council chairman Segun Agbaje, whose grassroots appeal is gaining traction among constituents seeking fresh leadership.
A similar contest is unfolding in Epe Constituency II, where incumbent Ogunkelu (Sketel) is set to battle Prince Adeyemi Ogunlari in a clash of local influence.
In Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency I, a three-way race is emerging, with incumbent Lukmon Olumoh facing competition from former council chairman Ajifat, alongside the possible influence of ex-Deputy Speaker Kolawole Taiwo.

Even top-ranking lawmakers are not insulated. Speaker Mudashiru Obasa is expected to face opposition in Agege, while first-term lawmaker Lara Oyekan-Olumegbon is also bracing for multiple challengers on Lagos Island.
In Surulere Constituency I, actor-turned-lawmaker Desmond Elliot is heading into what observers describe as a tough re-election battle, amid growing dissatisfaction among some constituents. He is expected to face competition from Barakat Odunuga-Bakare and Rasaq Olamilekan.
Meanwhile, youth participation is becoming more visible. In Orile-Agege Constituency II, Azeez Oladapo Yusuf (Nino) is gaining support as he prepares to challenge incumbent Abdulkareem, reflecting a broader shift towards youth-driven politics.
Other constituencies, including Oshodi-Isolo and Apapa, are also witnessing subtle but strategic political manoeuvres, with both incumbents and challengers testing their strength ahead of party primaries.
However, a few areas such as Eti-Osa and Somolu remain relatively calm, with incumbents currently facing little opposition.
Analysts say the situation highlights a changing political reality in Lagos, where incumbency no longer guarantees re-election. Instead, performance, grassroots connection and party acceptance are becoming key deciding factors.
With the APC firmly in control of the state, many observers believe the real contest will be fought during party primaries rather than the general election, setting the stage for intense political realignments as 2027 approaches.
