Tiwa explained that learning she was expecting a boy during pregnancy left her heartbroken, as she had strongly hoped for a daughter.

She admitted that the disappointment, combined with the physical and emotional strain of postpartum life, affected her bond with her son in his early years.
The award-winning artiste also recounted how the changes to her body after childbirth impacted her confidence and career at the time.
According to her, she lost a major endorsement opportunity because she no longer fit the image expected for the campaign, an experience that left her feeling frustrated and emotionally distant.
She revealed that for the first year or two, she struggled with bonding, especially as her son cried frequently and she battled body changes that did not reverse as quickly as expected.

In hindsight, she admitted that those feelings were misplaced, noting that her perspective has completely changed.
Tiwa said her son is now her closest companion and best friend, adding that motherhood has reshaped her priorities and outlook on life.
Speaking further, the singer said she is intentional about raising Jamil to grow into a kind, respectful, and emotionally responsible man.
Drawing from her own painful relationship experiences, she said she constantly reminds him to treat women with dignity and care.

She acknowledged that while no one is perfect, instilling kindness and empathy in her son remains her top priority as a mother.
In the same interview, Tiwa also reflected on her romantic past, noting that aside from one late partner whom she described as exceptional, most of her previous relationships did not end on a positive note.
The singer, who was married to music executive Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun between 2013 and 2018, welcomed Jamil in 2015 and has since embraced motherhood as one of the most transformative journeys of her life.
