According to Akinwande, the fire broke out on Friday and completely razed a six-room residential bungalow before emergency responders arrived.
He said the agency received a distress call at exactly 2.53pm from a resident identified as Odetunde. Firefighters, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent ACFS Amoo, were immediately deployed to the scene.

“On arrival, we met a six-room bungalow already engulfed in flames. Our officers acted swiftly and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings,” Akinwande said.
He confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident.
Preliminary findings, he added, showed that the fire was caused by an unattended domestic gas cylinder which exploded and spread rapidly through the building.
“Although no lives were lost, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the fire,” he said.
Akinwande urged residents to exercise caution when using gas appliances and advised members of the public to promptly contact the fire service and provide accurate addresses during emergencies to ensure quick response.
